Debt Management and Credit Advisory Services now available online

January 28, 2021

The Consumer Council of Fiji mobile app which was launched in August last year has been further enhanced to provide a platform for consumers to lodge financial related complaints and obtain debt management advisory services with just a few swipes on their phones.

This mobile app enhancement provides a new functionality which can be used for financial complaints and advisory. This addition allows a seamless transition for consumers who wish to raise a specific grievance on debt, whether it be with financial institutions or hire purchase companies. This has been made possible through generous funding provided by the Pacific Financial Inclusion Program (PFIP).

Consumer Council Chief Executive Officer Ms Seema Shandil says that this is a part of the Council’s efforts to provide a user-friendly and convenient platform for consumers to reach the Council.

“Given that thousands of Fijians are either without jobs or working on reduced hours, the demand for financial advice has increased over the past few months hence, this enhancement ensures that consumers in need of such services are able to reach us from the comfort of their homes,” added Ms Shandil.

PFIP Programme Manager, Mr Bram Peters emphasised that PFIP is proud to support this initiative to digitise the complaints processes and advisory services, because it aligns with PFIP’s mandate to protect consumer interests in financial services, especially for those people living in rural and remote areas.

This new enhancement in the mobile app is part of the debt management and advisory services which the Council launched in 2011. The Consumer Council of Fiji Mobile app is available for download on Google Play Store.
