The discussion will also focuson other ongoing issues affecting the consumers in Western arena.

The workshop is scheduled on Wednesday, 12 June 2019 from 9.30 to 1.00pm at the TanoaWaterfront Hotel conference room.

The workshop is part of the Council’s efforts to educateconsumers about the implications of counterfeits and how these can be managed to best protectthe consumer market.

The spread of counterfeit mobile phones has increased globally and Fiji is no exception. Thedemand for counterfeit products in Fiji is driven by many factors, especially the high prices ofgenuine products which are beyond the reach of many consumers.

A major challenge forconsumer protection agencies is to weaken the demand for counterfeit goods.

Therefore, educating consumers both on counterfeit mobile phones and other ongoing issues iskey so that they are empowered to make informed decisions.
