Consumers urged to visit Mobile Unit

Consumers are urged to take advantage of Mobile Unit that will be set-up in Suva to lodge their complaints or simply seek advice on consumer issues.

The Mobile Unit will be set up on the ground floor of Vanua Arcade from 8am to 1pm on Saturday April 20. Mobile Units, bring the Council’s services directly to consumers in the market place, making it easy for consumers to seek advice or lodge complaints.

Consumers are urged to make use of the mobile unit in order to receive up to date information on Consumer issues.  Given the weekend Easter specials, consumers are also advised to exercise their consumer responsibilities before purchasing goods and services. Consumers will be tempted to ‘impulse buy’ goods and services because most prices are slashed making shopping affordable.

Consequently, consumers are enticed into purchasing products that may be a bargain but are of poor quality and either past the expiry date or defective. Consumers who experience this or have any other complaints are advised to lodge their grievance or seek advice at this mobile unit.

Consumers are urged to report any unscrupulous trader practices they come across for the Council to monitor.  For more information, consumers are urged to contact our National Consumer Helpline toll-free line 155.
